Description: |
Stanton Elseroad is now in his second internship with the Separations and Materials Research Group in the Nuclear Science and Technology Division at ORNL. In 2006 he worked with Dr. Bill Steele to create an extensive report on the feasibility of ethanol's efficiency as the primary alternative to gasoline as the American automotive fuel of choice. After summating the lengthy history of ethanol-fuel research, the report analyzed the environmental and economic impact of such a switch to examine its likelihood. This year Stanton is very pleased to be a part of the bio-diesel research team led by his new mentor Dr. Joanna McFarlane. He will run the molecular modeling software, NWChem, in the Separations and Materials Research G4 cluster processor to determine thermophysical properties of bio-diesel components such as methyl-esters and olefins. |
