Description: |
Doug Aaron is in his final year of PhD studies at the Georgia Institute of Technology. His thesis title is "Transport in fuel cells: electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and neutron imaging studies" and is focused on using the two, named analytical techniques to study transport phenomena that affect fuel cell power production. The fuel cell systems studied in his work include polymer electrolyte membrane, enzymatic, and microbial fuel cells. His advisors are Dr. Costas Tsouris (joint ORNL/GIT faculty) and Dr. Sotira Yiacoumi of GIT. This is Doug's seventh summer at ORNL working with Dr. Tsouris in the SMR group. Past work for Doug has included reviewing technologies for carbon capture and storage for TVA, high gradient magnetic filtration experiments, deep-ocean CO2 hydrate sequestration experiments, and his thesis work on fuel cell systems. Doug enjoys spending time with his wife, playing ultimate frisbee, hiking and taking care of animals. |
