Ionic Liquid Paper is Cover Issue of July 2006 Issue of Green ChemistryThe paper “Brønsted acidic room temperature ionic liquids derived from N,N-dimethylfor The paper describes a convenient and efficient one-pot route for the synthesis of a new family of cost-effective, highly proton conductive, room-temperature ionic liquids based on N,N-dimethylformamide and structural analogues thereof. The work provides a possible breakthrough in developing potential materials for fuel cells and other areas. Solvents based on ionic liquids are also identified as one of the potential areas for development of novel chemical technologies for separations in advanced nuclear energy systems.
